In the month of Kartik each year, a large number of camels meander their way across the golden sands of the Thar desert of Rajasthan. They throng at Pushkar for the week-long fair devoted to them. Their masters astride them, they flick the sand at every step with casuals' ease. Many cows and sheep also come to the animal fair. Completing Thousands of men, women and children, accompany their beasts and add glitter to the otherwise empty piece of land.
One can witness the big turbans of the native males arriving here for trading their animals or to set up the stalls to serve to the booming captive market.
